The 4th London Poetry Festival
This festival of all things wordy - with some music thrown in - was born out of the Poets’ Letter Magazine Poetry Performance and the Live Music Series at the Poetry Cafe in Covent Garden.
Now in its fourth year ( and receiving no funding at all, but put together by enthusiastic poets, journos, artists, writers, editors and the like ) the Festival has readings from five poets in residence: Anjan Saha, Claire Askew, Helen Long, Nnorom Azuonye and Sharon Harriott along with an Open Mic session for all you budding poets to get up and have your say.
There's a celebratory feel to this festival, and with the gloom and doom of the credit crunch, isn't it nice to know that a few simple stanzas can raise the spirits more than a shopping spree.
