Magical Anjali and Yamboy have been banging out Bollywood beats at their monthly residence at the renowned Ritzy Café. The DJs treat the crowd gathered in the funky, floor-to-ceiling windowed, attic-like venue to Asian hip hop, punk, dance, bhangra and the blues. The event is free and there’s always a live act. July 10 presents a priceless gift wrapped up in the voice of Nila Raja. This Indian/English rose will make you lose sense of time, space and place (surely I’m not really in Brixton?) with her dreamy vocals and melodic musical interludes. You will never have heard anything like this before. Go clap.
