4th November 2009, Loma-Ann Marks

'The One to Watch' has become an ubiquitous phrase. We are constantly on the lookout for this chosen 'One’ ; The Next Big Thing, that talented, new, fresh face, sound, product that will make us think “ what was the world like before?” and “ how on earth did we manage without it?”

And, with today’s information overload how do we know which one, really, is ‘The One'?  Sometimes, we need a little guidance.
And so to Levi’s Ones to Watch, a five night showcase of curated and handpicked bands and musicians ready and set to become the next big things.
Why should we trust the jeans brand to sort the wheat from the chaff, and prevent us from kissing too many frogs to find the prince?  Because they’ve got form.
In the five years that their Ones to Watch has been in existence, they’ve discovered and promoted bands including Editors, Kooks, The View and Foals. Imagine the music scene without them?
This month, the line-up includes Marina & The Diamonds, MPHO,Crystal Fighters, Cherbourg (Andrew Davie solo), Sky Larkin and Alex Metric.
Catch these chosen ones at the Hoxton Bar and Kitchen and Cargo from 16th – 20th November just as they become part of our inner playlist.
And we wonder how we ever managed without them.
