Ctrl.Alt.Shift present United Underground

18th February 2010, Loma-Ann Marks

The phrase political activism conjures up images of old-school lefties and chanting at marches. These days, the sentiment remains but now film, music and art is engaging a new wave of those who want political change.

Ctrl.Alt.Shift present United Underground

Ctrl.Alt.Shift is at the cutting edge of this new  activism, and this Saturday they present United Underground, a unique collaborative project of  street culture, film, live music, DJs, artwork and new-school activism hosted by the Southbank Centre, British Underground and Riz MC.

The event has been created to promote exceptional new talent and activism, positioning music as a potential catalyst for change and highlighting the issue of conflict.

With performances from the likes of Trembling Bells and Aruba Red running alongside political speeches by journalist Ben White and former mayor Ken Livingston, uniting activists and performers from across the cultural and political spectrum.  Meanwhile, an interactive digital installation will allow people to add their own personal messages to a collective call for peace.

United Underground, Saturday 20th February ,12 noon – 3pm (pre event), 5pm – 11pm (club night) at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, London, SE1 8XX
