Hammer Festival

28th October 2009, Loma-Ann Marks

You might think that you’re hard enough for ghosts and witches, but can you take on the mighty Hammer?

Hammer Festival
Madeline Smith from Hammer Glamour

This Hallowe’en, classic horror is brought screaming to life with the Hammer Festival, a celebration of the most successful British film company’s classic and forthcoming movies with an exhibition, fashion show, book and blood-curdling events.

Head to the Idea Generation Gallery for an exhibition of  posters and previously unseen photos, prints and artwork from Hammer movies including Hammer House of Horror, The Bride of Dracula and The Curse of Frankenstein.
And take home a scary souvenier with Titan Books’ latest release Hammer Glamour, a tome bursting with rare and  previously unpublished images of Hammer heroines including Joanna Lumley, Nastassja Kinski, Raquel Welch and Martine Beswick and Madeline Smith. Open it if you dare…..

The Lexi Cinema in Kensal Rise and Curzon Shaftesbury Avenue wickedly welcome you to screenings of classic Hammer films including Frankenstein Created Woman and Captain Kronus : Vampire Hunter.

Or, beginning at the Idea Generation Gallery take a Ghost Tour or Vampire Hunt across the scariest parts of  Shoreditch ( not the Hoxton Pony at closing time ) and lay waste to London’s blood-sucking beasts. Mwahahahhaha.

The Hammer Festival, Idea Generation Gallery, 11 Chance Street, E2 7JB, until 15th November. For the latest Hammer Festival news check www.facebook.com/IdeaGenerationGallery
