Happy New Year….
January 8th, 2010
Happy New Year readers, how’s 2010 treating you so far? Hope you are all well, motivated and of course stylish….
What did you get up to for new years? I personally find with every impending new years comes the quandary of what to do and where to go, a decision that is more often than not made in the eleventh hour. This year I had the option of going to a girlfriends house party with most of my closest friends, sounds perfect right….. But alas, I end the year with a single status whereas all the other party attendees will be part of a duo. Although they aren’t all sickly sweet couples who make you feel like a complete lemon, I was savvy to the fact that as the clock struck midnight I would be made even more aware of the romantic abyss I currently find myself festering in. I would either be grabbed to take part in some threesome hugging action by one generous couple who don’t mind missing out on the new years snog or one of the girls would tell one of their obliging boyfriend/fiancées to give me a pity kiss.
Not this year…. however foolish a decision it seemed to others I opted to share my new years with my boy mates, as the lone girl. I hang out with the male variety more than girls so that wasn’t the point at which people were worried, the fact they were all single and how can I put it….. gagging for some lady action….. was the major cause for concern. We have decided to road trip it to a massive club to see in the new year rave style, but in the vast cavern bubbling with drunk totty would I find myself dancing round my handbag on my own when the pivotal moment arrived, while they happily massaged some scantily clad women with their tongues? Anyways anough about my lonely woes and on to style….
For the boys the decision of what to wear isn’t particularly taxing, a trouser of the jeans variety, a pointed shoe and a shirt.. done. So how I manage to be ready before them all despite or far more thorough grooming and getting ready regime is beyond me , yet not at all surprising. The amount of faffing over hair is my boggling , minutes of directing individual gel hardened strands till they are completely content with the final composition. This is followed by some raised eyebrows and gurning poses in the mirror and another trip to the bathroom.
I’d be sent a few beauty products in the post by some lovely pr’s, which was much appreciated after a particularly sparse array of under tree presents this Christmas. I thought this night out a perfect opportunity to test them out……
I’d bought a lovely velvet body from ASOS . It was of the bandeau variety and while I usually would rely on my gals pals to be on boob watch to alert me of any escapees I didn’t want to opt for this approach on this particular male orientated outing. I turned to the Eylure boob aids officially known as eylure instant uplifts/tape…………………… Im always a bit skeptical about such things particularly when you so many slip ups drawn attention within circle of truth type features in magazines, but thought with the vigorous dancing that was due to commence there would be no harm in seeing if these ones worked…..
Although I have to admit to a few hours of the night being recalled with a certain amount of haziness I cannot remember any wardrobe malfunction and there was definitely less than usual amount of hoiking up of the top, and I think my boobs look reasonably perky considering the lack of bra support- so thumbs up to them!!
This said, I always wonder should you be lucky enough to end the night romantically ( or lustfully) how attractive one would look with all this sticky tape over your chestal region, its the same conundrum with BrIdget pants and chicken fillets…..maybe its a novel way of putting you off reckless and regretable one night stands!!
I’ve never been that accomplished in applying/using beautifying products, waxing leaves me incredibly rashy and bumpy, fake tanning leaving patches on my elephantine elbows and knees, and I don’t even bother to pluck my eyebrows!!! I have used fake eyelashes before but admit to being a bit lackadaisical in terms of following the instructions. I don’t use tweezers as advised, my impatience dictates that I don’t wait the allocated 30 seconds for the glue to get tacky and I never trim them them to fit my eyes - this results in a eyelash that cuts the inner corner of my eye throughout the night if it hasn’t pinged off after a few minutes of dancing with gusto.
This time, I painfully waited the 30 seconds and attached my gold trimmed eylure eyelashes with care, they not only gained positive comments from my boy pals who are renowned as the harshest/bluntest critics they stayed on all night, and when I say all night I mean until 10am the next morning! Thats staying power!!
