The hunt for the perfect winter boots…Take 1
November 14th, 2009It’s about this time every year I embark on the mammoth task of hunting down the perfect pair of boots.Regular readers of this blog will be aware of my ridiculous feet, with their incredibly high arches and inability to keep me upright, which only serves to make the task more frustrating and tiresome.
The key factors for me this season were to find one pair in black, preferably an ankle boot, with a heel that could elongate my stumpy legs, but not leave me paralyzed after 5 minutes of wear. I was also determined to find a lace up pair , preferably in a chocolate brown, again with a heel that my clumsy self could walk in, hopefully with some womanly panache.
My parents were yet to visit the shopping expanse of Shepherds Bush’s Westfield so thats where we decided to start our search for the booty. As with every shopping trip with mother, numerous unsuitable suggestions ensue, her idea to venture into M & S was one of many. Rather than waste time and energy arguing with the person ‘who knows best’ , I darted to the shoes department in an attempt to scan the selection and leave the shop with haste. I’m not afraid to admit when I’m wrong, and mum had hit the bullseye, putting all my fashion background and ‘knowledge’ to shame. How could I have forgotten, only a few months ago I was gushing on this very blog about the footwear finds at the Mark’s press day!
Not only were there some cute heeled boots with a sheepskin inner there was a pair that ticked all factors in my boot criteria and cost less than £50. Bonus point too, not only could I walk in them, in a fairly feminine way for me, they were comfy because of inner padding. Not only do they look great with skinny jeans I can wear them with black opaques and toughen up pretty little dresses. Checkout the nice zip/buckle details!
