Based on the true story of Sandra Laing, a black child born in the 1950's to white Afrikaners in South Africa. Unaware of their black ancestry, Laing's parents raise her as a "white child," but at the age of ten she is shunned by white society, leading her to embark on a thirty year struggle to find acceptance.
