After the critical and commercial success of Will Smith's last foray into serious dramatical territory, The Pursuit of Happyness, it is no surprise to see the artist formerly known as The Fresh Prince reuniting with Pursuit director Gabriele Muccino for this latest effort. As an IRS agent with overactive altruistic tendencies, our lead sets about attempting to cure the ills of others, with a predictably gnarled secret of his own hidden just below the service. Although not as well received as the aforementioned Pursuit, Seven Pounds gives fans of Smith's considerable talent something weightier than I am Legend to get their teeth into.
